Hi everyone. Welcome to the Robeson Saddlery Website. My name is Jim Robeson and I am the owner and head saddler in the saddle shop. I have been involved in the saddlery trade for over 40 years and have made it my life’s work to provide my customers with the finest quality repair work and custom saddlery that is available here in the US. I take great pride in the fact that all of the products that I manufacture are made in the US from the finest materials available worldwide.
Let me tell you a little about my background in the saddlery business. I began my interest when I was an active Hunter Jumper rider in the 60’s. Everyone at the stables had very nice equipment and there was a need for quality work to be done to repair and maintain it. I began by doing small repairs on strapwork and halters. I did research as to where I could purchase tools and materials for repairing the equipment. After years of training myself, I began to manufacture bridles and other show equipment. Soon there was a substantial demand for my custom work as well as repair work. For the next few years, I developed a large local following and gradually expanded it to customers from all over the country.
In the early 80’s, my wife Lynda and I took the next logical step and opened a full service English saddlery shop. We continued with the custom saddlery and repair work while adding several lines of ready made leather goods, saddles, horse care products, clothing, boots and riding attire. Looking to get back to basics after 15 years in retail, we closed the retail store in 1995 and returned to the roots of the business which were custom and repair work. In 1998, I traveled to Paris, France to work and learn in the workshops of Hermes. I am now the official saddler here in the US for repairs and warranty work for the famous Hermes saddles. In 2005 I became the head saddler for Beval Saddlery and held that position until the end of 2010.
Throughout my 40+ years in the saddlery trade, I have developed a reputation for the finest saddlery work available. My goal is to provide my customers with the best possible service, information and quality in everything I do.
